I have aome new wallpaper sample books and I am going crazy cutting things out. I cut out 500 eggs. They are about 2 inches long and I have had a blast finding the perfect patterns to make my designer eggs. I had to make myself quit at the 500. Okay, I may have gone a little overboard. I put them in a basket and the parents at my school are quessing how many eggs are in our Easter basket. Right now the highest quess is 350. All the rest are in the 200s. Not even close. The children are using the eggs to count and match and make shapes and line up, etc. They are being used, but the biggest thing about them is that I am now addicted to designing my own fabrege eggs. It is so relaxing for me to do that and I need something to occupy my mind. I can cut things out when I am sitting and watching tv with my husband. Multi-task.
I quit cutting out the eggs (could have done a thousand). Now I am cutting out "buttons" for a retreat we are having at our church. And the children want me to cut out rabbits. So I have several ideas for feeding my addiction. I just wish I had a laminator so I could preserve them for later use. The children have been very busy cutting shapes out of their wallpaper too. If you are needing scrap paper for your children to cut and color on and just have tons of fun, go to your local paint supply store or wallpaper store and they will give the outdated, discontinued books for free. I have been using these for over ten years. Saves me money, but the colors and patterns and textures are so educational. I have so many uses for them. Especially scrapbooking and card making. Much more fun to use then construction paper. The ideas and the creativity are endless. Oh the addiction I have now gotten into. But, I can keep these for other uses. And the joy the children have and the smiles they have on their faces when they see me bring in a new book. I am telling you it is such a fun and educational tool. And very relaxing for this ADhD person named Marshel.
Try this and I bet you too will go crazy. Let me know if you get creative with wallpaper sample books. I may use your idea in my classroom. Have a good day. Marshel
Posting when I can; praying I can post more often. Wanting to develop a better blog; praying I have more opportunities to turn this into the blog it is meant to be.
About Me
- Marshel
- I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend, a daughter, and a teacher. I am many things, especially a writer. I am a person who loves the Lord. I am a Child of God. I am a Christian under construction. I want to be a Christ-like Christian. I want Jesus to call me "a woman who loves sharing about our Lord and Savior with others."
I love your ideas. However, you will not find me cutting out anything repetitive. I am an impatient perfectionist! Not a good combination when it comes to scissors!
